Remembering Pat Boruff, a Great Friend and Former Board Member
The Friends of the Venice Library were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Pat Boruff, a past Friends of the Library board member and devoted library supporter. She and her husband, Gary, were generous supporters of the Library Capitol Fund Campaign and frequent library visitors.
Bookstore Manager Deborah Kostroun said of Pat, “Pat shared her devotion to the library with her friends. She brought June Lee Reninger onto the board. And she was a regular library visitor, as recently as a few weeks before her passing, with her husband, Gary, always by her side.
Her background in education may have launched her lifelong interest in reading. With a degree in childhood education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Pat started her career as a kindergarten teacher and continued her commitment to education as a substitute teacher and school volunteer in both Riverside, Ill., and Venice, Fla.
Many fellow Friends of the Library shared their warm memories of Pat by donating generously to the Friends of the Venice Library. Those funds will help us continue her legacy by our support of library programs and materials.
