Baila Miller with Friends of the Venice Public Library Board President Deborah Kostroun

On Tuesday, December 12, 2017 the Friends of the Venice Public Library gathered for "American Storyteller:  Norman Rockwell" presented by frequent Venice Library speaker and Ringling College of Art and Design instructor Baila Miller.

Following a delicious chicken bruschetta lunch and raspberry chocolate bomb dessert, Friends Board President Deborah Kostroun introduced Ms. Miller to the audience that included Shannon Staub, Sarabeth Kalajian, Ann Hall, Gulf Coast Community Foundation friends, Sue Seiter of the Library Foundation of Sarasota County and Friends' current and former board members. Ms. Miller explained Rockwell's place in American history as well as art history spanning centuries.  The fundraising luncheon was a smashing success, thanks to Ms. Miller's humorous and engaging presentation and the efforts of volunteers.

ALSO OF NOTE AT THE EVENT: Dr. William H. Jervey, Jr., shared his love for libraries, inspired by the work of Andrew Carnegie. His $1M gift to the new library has helped to launch the Friends' additional $1M Enhancements Campaign.
