Silent Auction of Collectables - Dec. 1 through Dec. 8

Friends of Venice Library Silent Auction

Friends of Venice Library is hosting our second annual Silent Auction starting Friday, December 1 and running through Friday, December 8, in the Friends of Venice Library Bookstore.

Don Weiss, a Friends Bookstore collectables specialist, says about this year’s selection, “Our second pre-holiday silent auction includes items that have separated themselves from the rest over the past year.”

Don Weiss’s Personal Favorites

. To begin collecting vintage children’s books, items 1, 2, 3, 6, 8 and 13 make a great start. The Friends feel lucky to have had so many donations of beautifully illustrated children's books this year -- something we rarely see.
. 4, 15, 16 and 17 are wonderful coffee-table books that you won’t find on many coffee tables.

To place a bid in the Silent Auction

  1. See photos below of all items.

  2. Stop by the Friends Bookstore to look at the items displayed on the table by the bookstore entrance.

  3. Mark your bid in the corresponding Silent Auction bidding sheets. All bids must be on the appropriate bidding sheet by 4 p.m. on Friday, December 8.

  4. Opening bids begin between $5 and $25, depending on the value of the book, with many selling online for up to much more.

  5. Winning bidders will be notified by phone or email in a timely manner. All items need to be paid for and picked up from the Friends Bookstore’s main desk by Friday, December 15.

Show your support for the William H. Jervey Jr. Venice Library and the Friends of the Venice Library by bidding on some special, donated collectables.
