Volunteer With Us!
Have you ever considered getting involved with the Friends? It’s a wonderful way to meet people who share your passion for reading and books. All volunteers seem to find other volunteers who love their same favorite author or are eager to share the title of their latest page turner. Plus, your work in the bookstore helps your community.
To fill out a form in person, just stop by the Friends Bookstore Monday through Saturday!
Help get the right books into the hands of book lovers.

Meet the Volunteers
Lynn and Jane have worked together for a year.
“I've always loved the atmosphere of a library bookstore. I enjoy our customers. Some tell me about new authors or introduce me to new ideas. Plus, my partner, Jane, is wonderful to work with. She loves to read as much as I do so we often suggest new authors to each other. Volunteering in the bookstore is rewarding for me because I've met many wonderful volunteers and customers.”

“Before moving to Florida, I was in a book club and also had a long career as a reading teacher, so books have always played an important role in my life. Many book lovers seem to have a great deal in common with other book lovers, just as I do with my partner, Lynn. Besides being volunteer partners, we’ve become friends through our shared love of books and volunteering in the bookstore.”

Dee and Beverly evaluate and sort donations.
“I love volunteering in the bookstore. I’m one of several sorters, which means we evaluate, sort and shelve hundreds of donations every week. Beverly and I may work together to determine the category where each donation belongs, such as fiction, nonfiction, history or travel, before we shelve the latest donations. As bookstore volunteers, we appreciate the generosity of all donors.”
Dee, Bookstore Volunteer
“Whether I am sorting through donations from our generous supporters or helping customers in the bookstore, being a volunteer provides me with a sense of purpose focused on the importance of public libraries to the community.”
